Women’s Basketball Beat By Berks

The Penn State Abington women's basketball team fell to the Penn State Berks by a 66-45 score on Wednesday night. Abington remain winless on the season as Berks improves to 7-13 on the year, with a  6-8 mark in the conference.

Abington held just two lead in the opening of the first half, holding an 8-6 advantage before Berks was able to answer and build a large lead, holding a 12 point advantage with 9:50 left.

Abington attempted to rally late in the game, as Jacyln Vandiver posted a layup to cut Berks' lead to ten points with 8:45 remaining. But, Berks went on a 13-2 run in the remaining moments to seal the victory.

The Lady Lions, who trailed 37-25 after the first half, were led by Gabrielle Benedict's 11 points. Berks held its largest lead of the half with a 21-point advantage at the end of the second stanza.

Benedict finished the game with her second double double of the season after posting 15 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Jessica Schmidt was second in scoring with 10, and Vandiver tallied eight points total.

On Sunday, Abington will travel to Washington D.C. to faceoff with the Gallaudet Bisons in a 3 p.m. tilt.
