ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's tennis team won its fifth-consecutive match Wednesday afternoon against the Eastern Eagles, 7-2. The Nittany Lions won the doubles point before adding to its total with four wins in singles play to remain undefeated at home.
Abington (8-4) won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. The Nittany Lions' duo of
Jordan Domsky and
Matthew Wolff claimed the first victory in doubles play as they eased past Eastern's Codie Todd and Jason Spargo, 8-0.
Ross Raddi and
Nigel Hopkinson posted an 8-5 win at No. 2, while
Steven Ly and
Monte Dunson clichéd the final doubles point at No. 1 with an 8-5 decision.
The winning streak continued into the singles as
Dan Steinberg, Hopkinson, and Wolff all added three additional points for Abington before Eastern added to its total with a pair of wins at Nos. 2 and 3 spot in the lineup to trail 6-2 in the match.
Monte Dunson needed a third set to record the seventh and final point for the Nittany Lions after battling back from being down 6-1 during the third set to ultimately take the point with a 13-11 victory over Mylon Weaver.
Abington will return to action Saturday, April 6, when it opens conference play against Cazenovia College at 10 a.m.
