Box Score Washington, D.C. – Penn State Abington fought valiantly in an effort to overcome a big first half deficit, but were unable to complete the comeback in a close 44-50 loss at Gallaudet University. The Nittany Lions got within two points late in the second half after being down by as much as 13, but the Bison were able to make their free throws late and keep the Blue and White off the board to hold on to their victory.
Stephanie Keyes led all scorers in the game by tallying 17 points and pulling in six rebounds, while
Teharah Worrell scored 15 points and dished out four assists for the Blue and White. Meanwhile, Lindsay Stergio led the Bison with 14 points, while Britny Latham and Stephanie Weiss each added 10 points to the hosts' total.

In the first half, both sides spent the first nine minutes trading baskets back and forth, with neither team running out to any sort of advantage. Then, with 11:35 left to go in the frame, the Bison (12-11, 9-5 NEAC) went on an 11-0 run to stretch out to a 16-6 lead. Penn State Abington (5-14, 3-10) did manage to end that run with a basket of their own finally, but for the rest of the half they would be unable to overcome that eight-point deficit. Stergio hit a layup in the paint with a minute left to play to make it a 25-17 game with the teams headed into the half. In the second half, Gallaudet continued to open up their lead, going ahead by 13 when Weiss hit a three-pointer at the 14:14 mark. Then, Penn State Abington made a great charge to get back in the game. The Nittany Lions went on an 11-0 run that started with a great layup from Keyes. After a Gallaudet turnover, the Blue and White came down to the other end, where Keyes nailed a three-ball of her own to make it five straight points.
Alyssa Kaye made a jumper to follow that off, and then Worrell stepped up to close out the run, making a layup before picking a Bison player's pocket and converting another layup on the break. With 7:57 left to play, the Nittany Lions had gotten all the way back to within two with the score sitting at 38-36. The score remained close over the next five minutes before the Bison were able to pull away and keep Penn State Abington off the scoreboard. Keyes got the Blue and White back within two with yet another three-ball, but the Bison closed the game out on a 5-1 run to cap off their 50-44 victory.

With the loss, the Nittany Lions slip to 5-14 on the season and 3-10 in NEAC conference play. The Blue and White will look to get back into the win column when they hit the court for their final home game of the season this Tuesday. Penn State Abington will face off against Lancaster Bible College for a 7:00 p.m. tip and will look to have a large crowd on hand as the program will be celebrating Senior Night.
