ABINGTON, Pa - The Penn State Abington men's tennis team has been ranked the No. 1 seed in the NEAC West* Tournament after their perfect 5-0 record in conference.
Last year the Nittany Lions took down No. 1 seeded Rutgers-Camden to claim the NEAC West Tournament title with a 5-2 victory. Abington will look to repeat as the tournament champion when they face the winner of Penn State Berks and Penn College, Thursday at 10 a.m.
The NEAC West winner will then go on to face the NEAC East champion on May 3 at the at the Sportime Tennis Club in Schenectady, N.Y.
Abington will be represented in all of the individual tournament singles and doubles matches that will take place on Thursday and Friday.
Freshman
Mohammed Ammouni (Bensalem, Pa.) was ranked second overall at the No. 1 position while
James Howell (Abington, Mass.) ranked third at No. 2.
Justin McNab (Elkins Park, Pa.),
Monte Dunson (Philadelphia, Pa.),
Michael Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.), and
Sam Borai (Toms River, N.J.) all were ranked the top seed at the third, fourth, fifth and sixth position respectively.
In the doubles tournament, Ammouni/ Howell, McNab/ Dunson and Brown/
Kevin Wilkinson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) were all ranked the top seed.

*Beginning with the 2010 season, the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has partnered with the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) in the sport of men's and women's tennis. The NEAC will compete as associate members of the NAC in men's tennis, while the NAC will compete as associate members of the NEAC in women's tennis. Members from each conference will be divided into an East and West Division for each sport, with each division holding a championship and the two divisional champions then facing off to determine the conference champion. The conference winner for each sport will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.
