Kaminski Finishes 2nd at Abington Invitational

Abington, Pa. – Penn State Abington freshman Mason Kaminski finished second overall as the Nittany Lions hosted their annual Abington Invitational on Saturday morning at Lorimer Park. Kaminski's second place showing is the best finish since Ben Hoyer finished first overall in both 2018 and 2019.

Race Highlights

* Kaminski finished the 8k-course in a time of 28:06.03 for his second fastest time this season. Gallaudet University's Sevan Ikeda edged Kaminski for first place by less than three seconds (28:03.95).

* Senior Marco Isabella was the next Abington runner to cross the finish line as he completed the race in a time of 32:29.02. Isabella finished 25^th overall which marked his best placement at Lorimer Park and his second fastest time.

* Freshman Shane McCreary clocked in at 33:27.31 to finish 32^nd overall. It marked McCreary's second fastest time this season in an 8k-race.

* Freshman Jackie Chen finished 34^th overall with a time of 34:04.30 for his second fastest time of the season.

* Sophomore Calvin Chen and freshman Edison Chen followed close by as Calvin finished in 35:46.96 – 43^rd) and Edison recording a time of 35:54.24 – 46^th). Both recorded season-best times.

* Freshman Luke Kochan recorded a season-best time of 37:22.23 as he finished 53^rd overall.

* Senior Nic Worrall and freshman Qiao Xin also recorded season-best times. Worrall finished in 42:05.63 (71^st), while Xin came in at 43:05.95 (76^th). In addition, freshman James Wu registered a season-best time of 46:24.57 (81^st).

* Freshman Ali Wardak completed the race in 56:11.80 (90^th).

Race Notes

* Abington finished fourth overall as a team with a team score of 129.

* Penn State Berks finished first overall with a team score of 36 and was followed by Thaddeus Stevens in second place (53) and Kean University (76) to round out the top-three.

Abington returns to action on Saturday, October 4 as the Nittany Lions compete in the Highlander Invitational hosted by Cairn University.
