Hackney Named United East Offensive Player of the Week

Latham, N.Y. – Penn State Abington junior guard Amirah Hackney was named the United East Conference (UEC) Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 1 as announced by the conference office on Monday.  This is Hackney's first weekly honor of the year and the second of her career.

Abington went 2-0 versus conference opponents last week as Hackney averaged 20.0 points per game to go along with 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.

In the team's road triumph against Lancaster Bible College, Hackney registered 21 points for her ninth 20-plus point performance of the season.  She followed that up with 19 points in the come-from-behind victory over Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Hackney, who ranks fifth all-time in scoring with 1,132 career points, is averaging a career-high 18.0 points per game this year.

Abington (14-6, 7-2 UEC) is back in action Wednesday night as the Nittany Lions travel to face Penn State Berks in a United East matchup.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
