Women’s Soccer Picked Sixth in United East Preseason Poll

Latham, N.Y. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team was picked to finish sixth in the United East Conference (UEC) this season as the results of the Preseason Coaches' Poll were released by the conference office. The Nittany Lions totaled 64 points to be slotted in the sixth position in the standings.

Penn State Harrisburg, the reigning conference champion, and St. Mary's College (Md.) finished tied for first in the preseason poll after both teams split the 12 first-place votes and totaled 116 points. Penn College finished third with 99 points and was followed by Lancaster Bible College and Penn State Berks who both totaled 86 points to finish tied for fifth.

Abington, with 64 points, edged out Notre Dame of Maryland University (62) by two points for sixth place. Wilson college followed in eighth place with 52 points to round out the top eight and potential postseason teams.

The rest of the poll includes Cairn University (45), Penn State Brandywine (28), Cedar Crest College (25) and Keystone College (13).

The United East championship is set to begin on Saturday, Oct. 31 with quarterfinal action. The top-four seeds will host games with the winners of each game advancing to the semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 4. This year's championship game will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7.

Abington has qualified for the postseason the last three seasons under fourth-year head coach Ylber Mezani. The Nittany Lions finished 4-4-0 in conference play last season and advanced to the quarterfinal round.

Abington opens the 2026 season on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at Haverford College. The Nittany Lions will then face FDU-Florham on the road on Thursday, Sept. 3 before hosting Eastern University on Saturday, Sept. 5 in the team's home opener at Memorial Field.
